Brian Vickers put Toyota in Victory Lane at Michigan International Speedway for the first time after conserving enough fuel at the end to take the CARFAX 400.
Vickers, the pole sitter, grabbed the lead with two laps remaining when then leader Jimmie Johnson ran out of gas coming out of turn four. He then held off Jeff Gordon by 1.4 seconds to capture his second career Sprint Cup Series victory. His first win came 87 motor race betting races ago in October 2006 at Talladega.
